Somatic Therapy
A unified approach to body-based healing and nervous system regulation
Somatic Healing is an integrative framework that brings together body-centered therapies designed to support healing where experience is held—in the nervous system, the tissues, and the embodied patterns that shape how we feel, respond, and relate to life.
This approach recognizes that many forms of stress, trauma, and imbalance are not resolved through insight alone. The body adapts to survive, often holding protective patterns long after the original experience has passed. Somatic Healing offers a way to gently restore regulation, coherence, and internal communication.
This work is non-invasive, paced, and guided by the body’s innate intelligence.
What Is Somatic Healing?
Somatic Healing is not a single technique. It is a comprehensive, nervous-system–informed approach that integrates multiple somatic modalities under one coherent process.
Rather than working only with thoughts or memories, Somatic Healing focuses on:
- How the body has organized itself in response to experience
- How survival responses remain active or incomplete
- How regulation and safety can be restored from within
Healing unfolds through awareness, presence, and gradual integration—not force or reactivation.
Why Somatic Healing
When the nervous system becomes overwhelmed—through acute events, chronic stress, or early life experiences—it may remain stuck in patterns of fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown. Over time, this can affect emotional regulation, physical comfort, resilience, and the sense of connection to the body.
Somatic Healing supports the system in:
- Restoring nervous system regulation
- Releasing protective holding patterns
- Reconnecting with bodily awareness and internal signals
- Supporting long-term stability and resilience
The goal is not to eliminate symptoms, but to address the underlying organization of the system.
Somatic Healing begins with understanding your history, nervous system patterns, and present needs. From there, the process unfolds organically. Sessions may incorporate one or more somatic approaches depending on what supports integration most effectively.
The intention is not to apply techniques, but to respond intelligently to the system as it is.
Who Somatic Healing May Support
Somatic Healing may be helpful for individuals experiencing:
- Chronic stress or nervous system dysregulation
- Trauma or unresolved emotional experiences
- Persistent physical tension without clear medical explanation
- Anxiety, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm
- Disconnection from bodily awareness or inner guidance
- Fatigue or reduced resilience
This work is complementary and does not replace medical or psychological care.
A Gentle and Sustainable Path
Somatic Healing is not about fixing the body or pushing through discomfort.
It is about:
- Listening rather than overriding
- Supporting regulation rather than forcing release
- Allowing integration to occur at the body’s pace
As the system reorganizes, many people experience greater stability, clarity, and a renewed sense of connection with themselves.

Erica L. Eickhoff
SEP, CMPHC, SER, ISP
Erica uses somatic therapy as a bridge to reconnect with the body’s innate wisdom, understanding that the nervous system stores survival patterns that logical thinking cannot always resolve. Through a slow and conscious approach, she guides individuals in releasing deep-seated tensions and trauma stored within the tissues, allowing the body to reclaim its natural balance and vitality.
